Scar tissue is still skin tissue. However, it has become scar tissue after an injury caused the desmosomes to release new cells to surface much faster than the natural new cell proliferation (which is why we must never use cosmetic products claiming to accelerate new skin cells).

Scar tissue, like normal skin to a large degree, can be softened, partially removed and de-pigmented. However, the following techniques take time very much like the time it takes a jeweller to tap away at a rough diamond in an effort to bring out a clear face that will give the diamond its sparkle.

Condition - Scarring

Whether they are caused by accidents or by surgery, they are unpredictable. The way a scar develops depends as much on how your body heals as it does on the original injury.

• Scars are a direct result of our skins natural defense system
• If the skin is compromised by laceration, burning or picking, the skin's defenses will immediately begin forming new cells
• Scars occur when new cells develop too quickly or too slowly
