What is scarring/ what are scars?
Whether they are caused by accidents or by surgery, they are unpredictable. The way a scar develops depends as much on how your body heals as it does on the original injury.
- Scars are a direct result of our skins natural defense system
- If the skin is compromised by laceration, burning or picking, the skin's defenses will immediately begin forming new cells
- Scars occur when new cells develop too quickly or too slowly
The speed of proliferation of new cells is affected by many factors:
- Extent of injury
- Person's age
- Person's health
- Genetic and racial factors
- Presence of infection
- Drug interaction
The Langerhan cells which aid in the immunity of the skin and the enzyme collagenase are the principal elements in regulating cell proliferation. If one of these elements is missing or damaged abnormal cell proliferation (cell turn over) is likely.

What works/ what doesn't?
There are many crèmes on the market that claim to eliminate scars the truth is most are ineffective. Scars need a treatment protocol to re-damage and remove the scarred tissue and then repair the damage with a crème that consists of active ingredients and contains a small enough molecule to penetrate deep within the damaged tissue. Simply rubbing crèmes or lotions onto the skin's surface will not remove or reduce scars.
Scar tissue like normal skin can be softened, partially removed and de-pigmented to a large degree. To revise scarring we must remove and rebuild at the same time, this action will produce a restorative effect. Danné utilizes a formulation that dissolves and softens the area just enough to stimulate the re-knitting mechanisms of the tissue. Then we rebuild, and repair the area in a smoother, firmer fashion.
